Niche and Cult

Why are you no longer called The Konjac Sponge Company?

We changed our company name and branding, because we had developed and grown. We no longer sell just our beautiful organic Konjac Sponges; we sell more, so we wanted a new a name to fit our ethos. Niche & Cult does just that. But we are otherwise the same company, same people and same staff. Just bigger, better and a little bit more outspoken!

What are your opening hours?

We are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm GMT. So always available for advice or support on +44 (0)1442 800801. Or email us on info@nicheandcult.com. Orders can be placed on line 24/7.

When will my goods be dispatched?

We dispatch all order received before 12 noon, that same day, on a Monday to Friday. All orders taken over the weekend, or after 12 noon, go the next working day. The delivery time will vary due to Country. We ship worldwide, so we use the most appropriate delivery service for the Country. UK orders are always sent first class Royal Mail or with a courier company (DPD or Parcelforce). Please allow up to 28 days for far distant Countries, but generally the goods are delivered sooner.

I have a special request for my order or delivery, can you help?

Yes, we try to ensure that we get everyones order just as they like it. So please add comments to the order, or call us to place the order. Always ensure that you have told us of any special delivery requirements.

What if I have an allergic reaction?

Its extremely rare that anyone reacts to our products, because they are so natural. However, its possible for anyone to react to the most innocuous product. So we would advise discontinuing use immediately and seeking the advice of a doctor. Always follow the instructions on the label of the products too.

What if I change my mind or want to return something?

Items can only be returned for a refund if they are unopened, unused and in a re-saleable condition with all tamper-resistant seals, packaging and any cellophane intact and must be returned within 28 days of despatch.

We recommend a photograph is taken of the item prior to returning it if you are concerned about damage during its return journey. Additionally, always ensure you get a proof of return from your post office. The return is your responsibility, until it arrives with us, so you may prefer to send the goods back with a tracked delivery service.

Once an item has been received by us, we will process the return within 7 days, and by the method you paid us. Card payments may take an additional 5 working days to show in your account, due to banking methods. Please ensure you send a copy of your order with the return.

My item arrived with damaged packaging or an item missing?

We are sorry if this happens. We package carefully to prevent issues, but sometimes things happen in transit. We are all human after all! So we request you sign for the package as damaged if possible, or refuse it. However, we accept this cannot always happen, so ideally we request a photograph, but without a doubt drop us an email within 24 hours of delivery info@nicheandcult.com. We will then endeavour to get the situation rectified ASAP.

The Konjac Sponge Company

How do I know your products are the genuine ones?

The Konjac Sponge Co products, are the original Konjac Sponge brand, with the genuine trademark (The green circle with the leaves and words The Konjac Sponge Co) . There are now plenty of similar looking products trying to mimic our success, and plenty of Chinese branded sponges trying to directly copy what we do. They use our words and even our images (yes, its really shocking!) To ensure you are getting the real deal, please do buy from one of our stockists or directly from ourselves. Ensure the product clearly states “made in Korea” and ensure the products have a natural colour and do not look artificial in colour, our logo should be clearly displayed on the packaging, and/or the care leaflet.

What is Konjac?

The Konjac potato or Konnyaku is a perennial plant native to Asia and can be found growing wild at very high altitudes. A totally natural food source, Konjac is 97% water, rich in mineral goodness and low in calories. The plant is naturally alkaline, which leaves skin perfectly balanced.

What is the difference between your sponges and others now on the market?

Our Korean made, pure organic Konjac sponges are genuinely free from chemicals, colouring, additives and irritants. 100% biodegradable and fully sustainable, this moisture-rich plant fibre is lovingly hand-blended with natural volcanic water to create our powerful sponges.

Often copied but never bettered, copy brands do not have the technology, patents or know-how to create the high quality vegetable fibre sponge we offer.

We are proud to carry the Leaping Bunny and Vegan Society symbols as signs of our commitment to producing natural, cruelty free skin care. All our sponges are tested for authenticity and purity, However, many inferior products are often mass produced in poor quality, unethical factories and use low grade, uncertified materials. Artificial ingredients and colours are added to make the sponges.

Making a Konjac sponge is much like making a good wine. The quality of our sponges takes considerably longer to make, because we do not use chemicals to speed up the process. We are artisans at what we do, all our products are hand made, and we allow nature to aid the sponge production method, rather than chemicals to make a poor substandard product in a hurry.

How should I care for my Konjac Sponge?

There are a few simple rules here. The sponge will last longer if it is allowed to dry between uses. Always follow the instructions inside the packet. Never let the sponge stay in a wet environment between use (never leave it in the shower or in a pool of water). Squeeze out excess moisture after use. Air the sponge on a heated towel rail, or in a well ventilated room. The sponge will go hard between uses, thats fine. Just rehydrate and away you go.

How long will my Konjac Sponge last?

Your sponge will last between 1 and 3 months. The better care you give it the longer it will last. Hang on to the instructions that come with the sponge (they are in 16 languages too).

Will the sponge help with acne?

Yes, it will certainly help. By gently but deeply cleansing, the sponge will draw out impurities and excess oils that cause spots. We would recommend our Konjac Facial Sponge with Bamboo Charcoal for this problem.

How frequently should I use the Sponge?

Make the sponge a part of your daily regime. Simply use the sponge morning and evening, or whenever you would usually wash or cleanse your face.

Can anyone use a Konjac Sponge?

Yes! It’s excellent for all skin types and children. Our various clays and powders help you tackle more specific skin problems or types. They are great for sensitive, dry, oily and spot prone skin. Suitable from the newest newborn to the eldest family member.

Can I sterilise the sponge?

Yes, feel free to boil the sponge for a few minutes in a pan of boiling water if you want. It is perfect for beauty therapists who want to reuse the sponge on their clients. But sterilising is not truly necessary for everyday personal use.

Will it help my shaving rash?

Shaving strips away the top layer of skin. Soothe and cleanse with the sponge to prevent further damage with additional cleansing methods. The sponge is brilliant to help prevent ingrown hairs too.

Children's bath time, is it good??

The sponge is perfect for washing children’s hair! There are no big, sloshy cups of water to pour and you can gently squeeze the sponge over the child’s hair to wet and rinse. Kind and gentle on the skin too.

Is a Konjac sponge any good for my Eczema or skin condition?

Yes, the sponge is fantastic for irritated and sensitive skin. There are no chemicals and no impurities, so no irritants. We would very highly recommend the use of the sponge for all skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, rosacea etc.

Can I use a Konjac sponge on my newborn baby?

Yes, definitely. There is nothing to irritate, and better still, no need for any other cleansing solution, shampoo or body wash unless you really want! If you would still rather add some bath soap, you can use far less product and avoid damaging sensitive baby skin with a product that can strip essential moisture. Health recommendations these days, advise against using anything but water to cleanse. So the sponge is just perfect

Is a Konjac sponge suitable for the bed bound or the frail?

Most definitely! Elderly people frequently suffer from thin skin which breaks and tears easily. The sponge is perfect as it is so gentle and will not dry out or damage the skin. Cancer sufferers should avoid chemicals or irritants on the skin too, it’s gentle for those undergoing chemo.
